It tells of the most violent and bloody war in America, the Battle of Carabobo (1821). It has been ten years of advances and setbacks on the path to freedom. Two Republics have been defeated by forces loyal to the Spanish imperial crown and the desire for sovereignty and independence is drowned in the terror of the war to the death that both sides have imposed. Bolívar and the Third Republic risk everything in that definitive battle and both the patriotic and royalist sides are aware of this. So are the humble and anonymous men and women whose lives will be changed by the battle.
